Meet The Team

Owners/Founders Sara and Josh Pence (and the kiddos). 

Sara earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2010 and, after several years of nursing practice and continued professional development, earned her Family Nurse Practitioner degree and license in 2014. This achievement marked an important step in her career, allowing her to expand her role in patient care and take on greater responsibility in diagnosing, treating, and managing a broad range of medical conditions. Since becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Sara has continued to build an extensive and diverse clinical background, with her primary experience focused on Emergency Medicine, Neurosurgery, and Family Medicine. She has also practiced in Urgent Care, Internal Medicine, and Inpatient Care, giving her a well-rounded understanding of both acute and chronic medical conditions.

In addition to her broad medical experience, Sara has extensive experience caring for patients with psychiatric and behavioral health needs. She understands the unique challenges involved in caring for this patient population and is experienced in providing compassionate, thoughtful, and individualized care while addressing both physical and mental health concerns.

Sara believes in treating the whole person rather than simply addressing a diagnosis. She takes the time to listen to her patients, understand their concerns, and develop individualized treatment plans that fit their health needs and circumstances. Her extensive clinical experience, continued dedication to professional growth, and compassionate approach to patient care make her an integral part of the Ohana Care family.

Josh Pence

Josh began his career in healthcare by earning his Paramedic license in 2010. After several years of experience in emergency medical services, he joined the United States Air Force, where he spent approximately four years working in a dual Primary Care and Flight Medicine clinic. During this time, he also provided field medical support and gained valuable experience caring for patients in both clinical and operational environments.

In 2023, Josh earned his Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license to further expand his clinical knowledge and better serve the Ohana Care family. He remains an active member of the Kentucky Air National Guard and continues to serve his community full-time as a Critical Care/Flight Paramedic. His diverse background in emergency medicine, primary care, flight medicine, and military healthcare brings a unique perspective and broad range of experience to the Ohana Care team. Josh is passionate about serving others and is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care to every member of the Ohana Care family.

Viola

Viola is a Certified Medical Assistant who brings years of valuable experience in patient care and healthcare coordination to the Ohana Care family. She plays an important role in helping our clinic provide organized, efficient, and patient-centered care, supporting both our providers and patients throughout their healthcare journey.

In addition to providing direct patient care, Viola manages several important clinic programs and processes, including patient referrals. Her attention to detail, organization, and commitment to follow-through help ensure that patients receive the care and services they need beyond the walls of our clinic.

Viola understands that excellent healthcare is about more than the time spent in the exam room. It is also about making sure patients feel heard, supported, and cared for throughout every step of the process. Her dedication to our patients and her willingness to go the extra mile make her an invaluable member of the Ohana Care team.

Abbey

Abbey joined the Ohana Care family in 2024, bringing with her a diverse background in business, healthcare, and education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and has several years of experience working in medical offices, giving her a strong understanding of the administrative and organizational needs of a healthcare practice.

Before joining Ohana Care, Abbey also spent time teaching elementary school. Her experience in education has strengthened her ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and work patiently with people from all backgrounds—skills that translate naturally into her role as both our receptionist and office manager.

As one of the first people our patients encounter, Abbey strives to make every patient feel welcomed, respected, and valued from the moment they walk through our doors. She helps oversee the day-to-day operations of the practice while working closely with our clinical team to ensure that patients receive a positive and seamless experience.

Abbey is committed to creating an environment where patients feel comfortable, cared for, and part of the Ohana Care family. Her combination of business experience, healthcare knowledge, and genuine passion for working with people makes her an important part of our team.
